Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty

Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty is a Member of the University Grants Commission. Ministry of Education, Government of India.

He is the former Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Odisha and former Professor and Head, Department of English, University of Hyderabad, [an institution of Eminence],

He was educated at Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education, Pondicherry, University of Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, University of Texas at Austin, and Yale University, New Haven, United States, Winner of many national and international awards, such as the Katha, British Council, Fulbright, [twice] Charles Wallace, and the Salzburg, he has published extensively in the field of British, American, Gender, translation, and post-colonial Studies. His books have appeared in Oxford, Sage, Routledge, and Orient Longman, among other notable Publishing Houses.

Dr Mohanty’s contributions to the academic genres of travel writing, cosmopolitanism, institutional history, early women’s writing in Eastern India, and postcolonial/ cultural history of India have been widely recognized as path-breaking at the national and international level. His essays and articles have appeared in some of the leading forums in India and abroad.

He served as a Member of India’s Commission on Education to the UNESCO and was a member of the Governing Board of Aireville Foundation. He was a consultant to the Ford Foundation and Senior Academic Associate at the American Studies Research Centre. [ASRC] Hyderabad. He was Fellow, Cambridge Seminar on Contemporary Writers, and Warwick Seminar on literary Translation. He is adviser to the literary web journal: www.museindia.com.
