Other Authorities of the institution deemed to be university
The following shall be the other authorities of the institution deemed to be university:
1) Academic Council
2) Planning, and Monitoring Board
3) Finance Committee
4) Board of Studies
5) Such other authorities as may be declared by the Rules to be authorities of the institution
deemed to be university
1. Academic Council (AC)
1.1 The Academic Council shall be the principal academic body of the institution deemed
to be university and shall, subject to the provision of the Rules, have the control over
and be responsible for the maintenance of standards of teaching, research and training,
approval of syllabus, co- ordination of research activities, examinations and tests within
the institution deemed to be university and shall exercise such powers and perform
such other duties and functions as may be prescribed or conferred upon it by the Rules
of the institution.
1.2 Composition of the Academic Council
The Academic Council shall consist of the following persons, namely:
1. Vice Chancellor ...... Chairperson
2. Pro Vice-Chancellor (if any)
3. Dean(s) of Faculties
4. Heads of the Departments
5. Ten Professors other than the Heads of the Departments (by rotation of seniority)
6. Three Associate Professors from the Departments other than the Heads of the
Departments by rotation of seniority
7. Three Assistant Professors from the Departments by rotation of seniority
8. Three persons from amongst educationists of repute or persons from any other field
related to the activities of the Institution deemed to be University who are not in the
service of the Institution deemed to be University, nominated by the Vice-Chancellor
9. Three persons who are not members of the teaching staff, co-opted by the Academic
Council for their specialized knowledge
10. The Registrar, who shall be the Secretary of the Academic Council
Note: The representation of different categories shall be only through rotation and not through
election. It may also be ensured that no particular faculty dominates the membership of the
Council.
