Regulations on Establishment, Maintenance and Recognition of Institutions:
20.0 Legal Proceedings
(1) For the purpose of Section 6 of the Societies Registration Act, 1860, the person in whose
name the Institution Deemed to be University may sue or be sued shall be the Registrar,
who shall have the power to enter into agreements, sign documents and authenticate
records on behalf of the Institution Deemed to be University, and shall exercise such
powers and perform such duties, as may be prescribed by these Regulations.
(2) No suit or legal proceedings shall lie against the Government, or the Commission, or
the Institution Deemed to be University, or an Officer of the Institution Deemed to be
University, or a member of the authority of the Institution Deemed to be University,
in respect of anything done or purported or intended to be done in pursuance of any of
these Regulations.
21. Removal of Difficulty
UGC reserves the right to remove difficulty/ies in the course of implementation of these
regulations in consultation with the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource
Development.
