FROM THE DESK OF CHAIRMAN,
UGC
|
|
University Grants Commission
is in its Golden Jubilee this year. It is a premier body, which is linked
with each and every higher education institution in the country. It is
also well known that higher education is a powerful tool to build knowledge
for an information based society. Universities thus have to serve, in
twenty-first century, a multiple role; produce new knowledge, acquire
capability to decipher and adapt knowledge produced elsewhere and create
an intelligent human power, at all levels, through challenging teaching
and research activities.
|
|
University Grants Commission
has initiated several innovative approaches for strengthening and advancing
higher education in the first decade of the 21st century. We have our
own website (www.ugc.ac.in). We also intend to keep contact with each
and every educational institution in the country through a print media.
This is what is being planned, in the Golden Jubilee Year, through UGC
Newsletter. We will be publishing Newsletter regularly and we hope that
this would become a bridge for communication between every beneficiary
of higher education, particularly students, teachers and supporting staff
and the University Grants Commission. I would like to congratulate the
editorial team for bringing out this informative and colourful Newsletter.
