Brief Information

In order to enrich the academic resources of the university system for a deeper reflection on critical issues, the University Grants Commission has formulated the Scheme of Chairs in the name of Nobel Laureates and other illustrious persons who have been either Indian Citizen or are of an Indian Origin. UGC have been providing funds for all the academic, administrative and logistic support to the Chairs created. Further, a Committee constituted by UGC is in the process of framing the revised guidelines for establishment of Chairs in Indian Universities.
