Brief Information

  • The Central Government enacted Official Language Act, 1963, an Act to provide for the language which may be used for the official purposes of the Union. Consequently, all the departments of Central Government were directed to set up ‘Rajbhasha Cell” in order to promote the use of Hindi in government business. Following the Official language Act, 1963 University Grants Commission established a Rajbhasha Section which conducts various activities for the promotion of Rajbhasha according to the provisions contained and the directives issued by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs/Ministry of Education, Government of India from time to time.
