The Quality Improvement Programme QIP Bureau of the University Grants Commission serves as a key institutional mechanism for advancing academic quality, regulatory coherence, and systemic transformation in Indian higher education in alignment with the National Education Policy NEP 2020, The Bureau is entrusted with the formulation, implementation, and capacity building support for major academic and regulatory reforms, including Learning Outcomes based Curriculum Frameworks LOCF, the National Credit Framework NCrF, the National Higher Education Qualification Framework NHEQF, and multidisciplinary institutional transitions, Through structured guidelines, regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures SOPs, the QIP Bureau facilitates reforms such as multiple entry exit pathways, recognition of prior learning, global citizenship education, curriculum and credit frameworks at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, engagement of Professors of Practice, and the maintenance of minimum academic standards including doctoral education, Collectively, these initiatives aim to enhance academic flexibility, learner mobility, institutional autonomy, and global competitiveness while ensuring quality assurance, inclusivity, and outcome oriented higher education across the country
